Eric Lynn Larsen

Eric Lynn Larsen of Richmond, Utah passed away from complications due to leukemia at the age of 69 on the evening of July 19th at the LDS Hospital surrounded by his wife and children.  Eric was born in Preston, Idaho on January 25, 1954, to Lynn Junior Larsen and Shirley Cole. He grew up in Fairview, Idaho. He loved playing a large variety of sports. He wrestled, played football, was on the track team, and held the school record in shot put for 25 years. He graduated from Preston High School in 1972.

Eric was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission to the Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Mission from 1973-1975. While on his mission he served in the states of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri. He served in many callings, including serving as a Ward Clerk for many years and as Elder’s Quorum President. He loved serving as a Cub Scout leader, one of his favorite callings was when he was the Cub Master. His last calling before passing away was serving as a primary teacher with his wife.  He loved the primary children in his classes.

Eric played football at Snow College, then transferred to BYU, after which he transferred to Utah State University where he graduated Cum Laude, receiving a degree in accounting.  In 1978, he met Mary Jane Bair. He was immediately smitten by her and proposed after knowing her for just one month. They were married 4 months later on August 10, 1978, in the Ogden, Utah temple.

He was a devoted family man and worked hard to always ensure his family was taken care of. In the early days this meant working full time, all while going to school and raising a family. He worked at Presto for 42 years. He enjoyed playing sports, attending sporting events with his family, crying while watching a good Hallmark movie, traveling with his family, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Jane; his children Elise (Tom) Petroff of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Jared (Emilie) Larsen of Plain City, Utah; and Brett (Lauren) Larsen of Clinton, Utah. He is also survived by his siblings David (Brenda), Corey (Lee Anne), Charisse, and Wendy. As well as his 11 grandchildren: Savannah, Olivia, Emmett, Tennyson, Isla, Liam, Merrick, Mira, Hazel, Theo, baby Larsen and many nieces and nephews.
