Our beloved Emma Mabel Haddock Jensen, mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend slipped quietly from this mortal world into eternity on January 16, 2017 in Preston, Idaho to be reunited once more with Dad and the many other souls eagerly awaiting her return. Emma was the second of five children and was born on December 11, 1919 in Bloomington, Idaho to Don Carlos Haddock and Hazel Dunford. With her ready smile and quick wit, Emma radiated a zeal for life that was infectious to all who knew her.
Emma and her family knew many challenges growing up in the harsh Bear Lake valley, but those challenges would serve to strengthen her for the years ahead. When she was just 17, Emma started hanging around the neighbor boy, Rex A. Jensen. Her father told her she could not be married until she turned 18 so she was married to Rex shortly after her 18th birthday on December 25, 1937. Rex and Emma were married in Paris, Idaho by her father, who was serving as a judge at the time. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah LDS on March 5, 1943 shortly before Rex was called away to serve in World War II.
Emma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served well in many callings throughout the years. She especially loved serving in Young Women’s and often spoke of the girls in her group. Her testimony of the Savior was evident in the way that she lived her life. The greatest joy she found in this life was to make others happy and she would not rest until she was convinced that she had completed that mission. She was always the life of the party and loved to be near her family and friends. She loved to spend time visiting with others, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she was always eager to share stories of the many escapades that her and Rex had enjoyed throughout the years.
Emma is survived by her children Don Antone (Carelin) Jensen of Sandy, Utah, Claudia Nash of Preston, Idaho, Robert H. (Sharon) Jensen of Preston, Idaho, and Rexanne (Eric) Nielsen of Weston, Idaho, her sister Georgina Collinson of Sandy, Utah, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jean E. Jensen, son, Baby Boy Jensen, husband, Rex, brother, Ed, sister, Donna, and brother, Dunford.
Emma will be greatly missed, but the warmth of her smile and her endless kindness will live on in each of our hearts until we meet her again. We are truly blessed by the beautiful legacy she has left us. We love you Mom, Grandma, and Sis!!!
Special thanks to the caring staff at Heritage Senior Living, Thelma Roley, and all of the staff at Access Home Care and Hospice for giving Mom the very best of care!
