Ellen Walker Burnett Wheatley

FRANKLIN, IDAHO- Ellen Walker Burnett Wheatley, 89, passed away on August 19, 2008, in Logan, Utah, after a short illness. She was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Brigham City, Utah, the second child of eight born to Heber Lorin and Ethel Wheatley Walker of Honeyville, Utah. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1937 and later graduated from a beautician's school in Ogden, Utah. She was a member of the Daughter's of Utah Pioneers and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in a variety of callings.She married Stuart James Burnett on Dec. 4, 1940, in the Logan Temple. After his death in 1954, she married Bert Moss Wheatley on Nov. 14, 1955 and continued the family farm in Fairview, Idaho. Combining two families, Ellen worked hard with her husband to create a successful dairy farm while raising seventeen children. Her creativity and wit brought many smiles and laughter to her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, sewing, gardening and being with friends and family. Her example of hard work is shown in her children.She is survived by her children, LaVere (Connie) Burnett of Wichita Falls, Texas; Lorin (Dilean) Burnett of Paradise, Utah; Floyd (Miriam) Burnett of Hyrum, Utah; Bonnie (Lynn) Burbank of Preston, Idaho; Faye Ann (Steve) Selley of Preston, Idaho; Carl (LeeAnn) Burnett of Preston, Idaho; Colleen (Glen) Eikmeier of Dodge, Nebraska; Bert (Laura) Wheatley of Preston, Idaho; Mary Ellen (Brad) Hodges of Syracuse, Utah; Seth (Beth) Wheatley of Preston, Idaho; Colin (Cindy) Wheatley of Dubuque, Iowa; Karl (Maurine) Wheatley of China Grove, North Carolina; Keith (Theresa) Wheatley of Clinton, Utah; Joe (Trudy) Wheatley of the Netherlands; Jane (Ron) Bloxham of Challis, Idaho; and Elaine (Gerald) Witters of Papillion, Nebraska; 85 grandchildren, 161 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren, two sisters, Nola Walker of Salt Lake City, Utah; Fern (Lloyd) Holmes of Logan, Utah; and four brothers, Ray (June) Walker of Cove, Utah; Don (LeAnna) Walker of West Point, Utah; Thomas (Marilyn) Walker of Honeyville, Utah; and LeWayne (Grace) Walker of Honeyville, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Stuart and Bert; a son, Ronald Wheatley, her parents, and by a brother, William Walker.Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, August 23, 2008, in the Franklin Stake Center with Bishop Chad Womack conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
