Preston, Idaho- Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother and good Friend, Ella Josephine Jepsen Jones peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father Dec. 8, 2015. She will be missed by family and all who knew her.
She was born Sept. 13, 1918 in Preston, Idaho the third child of Julius Jepsen and Nellie Adella Bergquist. She was a gentle, resourceful person who worked hard all of her life. She learned her great work ethic as a child as she helped on the family farm. She was raised in Mink Creek, Idaho with two brothers and three sisters. She attended school by traveling on horseback, wagon or riding in a horse drawn sleigh in the winter.
In high school, she would move into town and stay the week with a group of girls in a small rental room- she was always so homesick she could hardly stand it. She worked all her life- first at Utah Poultry, Golden Rule, M.H. Kings, Del Monte and many years at O.P. Skaggs. She retired from the Franklin County Grain Growers.
On Sept. 27, 1940, she married Grant E. Jones in the Logan Utah Temple. They lived the first years of married life on the Jones Family Farm in Lewiston, Utah. Later they moved to Preston and lived there the rest of their lives.
Ella had two children: Eileen and Steven. She loved crocheting and gardening. She prided herself in beautiful flowers and made gorgeous afghans. She has 13 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She is survived by her daughter, Eileen (Lyle) Winward; by a daughter-in-law, Julie Jones; and by a sister, Valora Parry. She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, Grant E. Jones; by her son, Steven Grant Jones; by two brothers, Fremon and Lester Jepsen and by two sisters, Elva Elwood and Darlene King. The family would like to thank the Franklin County Transitional Care Center for their loving care this past year and all those who have shown so much kindness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston. Friends may call Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
