Elizabeth Carol Carter Smith, 66, passed away February 14, 2025, at the Gables Assisted Living in Brigham City, Utah. She was born on August. 9, 1958, in Bozeman, Montana the daughter of Mark Johnson Carter and Camille Beth Neuffer Carter. She married Clifford Shane Smith on Nov. 17, 1978, in the Salt Lake Temple.
Elizabeth and Shane built a life that took them across the world—from the ranches of Wyoming to the bustling streets of Mexico City, the charm of Vienna, Austria, to Providence, Utah, and back to the peaceful countryside of Dayton, Idaho, and Honeyville, Utah. Through every move, she embraced new experiences, developed deep friendships, and continued her lifelong commitment to service.
A devoted mother to five sons—Shane Jr., Cole, Cody, Solomon, and Zachary—Elizabeth took great pride in raising them with strong values, love, and encouragement. She was an unwavering supporter of their education and achievements, celebrating their successes with a mother’s boundless pride.
Elizabeth dedicated her life to service, holding leadership roles in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including multiple presidencies in Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary. Her commitment to charity and kindness touched the lives of countless individuals. Whether organizing school events, advocating for Little League in Austria, or sewing wedding dresses, she gave her talents and love freely.
She was fearless, unafraid to travel across the world to visit her children, even venturing to Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Ukraine to support her family’s humanitarian work. She embraced every culture, every challenge, and every moment with grace and courage.
Above all, Elizabeth’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother to 21 grandchildren. She found happiness in the simple things—working in her yard, sewing blessing clothes for her grandchildren, preparing countless meals for others, and always being there for those in need.
Elizabeth’s legacy is one of love, service, and faith. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith will be remembered by all who knew her. Though she has left this earthly life, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
