Elaine Eulala Lundquist Hobbs, age 83, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, in Smithfield, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. She died of natural causes, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service.
Elaine was born on April 14, 1941, at her family home in Preston, Idaho, to Donald Albert Lundquist and Eulala Mae Condie. She grew up on the family farm alongside her older brother, Leon, in the close-knit community of Preston.
Elaine’s life was marked by a deep commitment to her faith. She met her eternal companion, Boyd Tim Hobbs, in the eighth grade, and the two became high school sweethearts. They were married on January 27, 1961, in the Logan Utah Temple, and together they made their home in Franklin, Idaho, where they raised their five children.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elaine served in numerous callings throughout her life. Alongside Tim, she served two missions in the Honolulu Hawaii Mission at the Polynesian Cultural Center and served at the Nauvoo Visitors Center in Illinois and the Hill Cumorah and Sacred Grove in Palmyra, New York. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and her testimony of eternal life and the promise of reunion with loved ones brought her great comfort.
Elaine is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Tim, and their five children: Jeff (Jill) Hobbs, Kristie (J.R.) Barker, Troy (Jenni) Hobbs, Trisa (Corey) Hansen, and Kim (Tim) Thornton. She was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and a grandson.
Elaine touched the lives of many with her kindness, grace, and unwavering faith. Her influence will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, and her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire future generations. Her belief in eternal families and the promise of life after death gave her strength, and she leaves behind a family that looks forward to the day they will be reunited.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff at Birch Creek Assisted Living for their compassionate care over the past 16 months. Their support has been a great comfort to the Hobbs family.
