Mink Creek, Idaho - - - Edna O. Rasmussen
Mink Creek - Edna Olsen Rasmussen, 96, passed away Monday, January 25, 2010 in Preston Idaho at the Heritage Home. She was born April 17, 1913 in Scipio, Utah to Frederick Daniel and Mary Koford Olsen. She had two brothers Urban and Reed, and four sisters Leah, Ilene, Mildred and Laurene. The family moved to Clifton, Idaho where Edna attended school and graduated from high school. Edna married Weldon W. Rasmussen on August 9, 1933 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They lived on the farm in Mink Creek, Idaho. They had five sons Larry, Reese, Brent, Lynden, and Kaylan.
Edna had many talents one of which was sewing. She sewed many special dresses for her granddaughters. She was an extra ordinary grandmother and knew each of her grandchildren well. She served in many church callings over the years and said her favorite was when she served as Primary President from 1945-47.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Mary Jean) Rasmussen, of Mink Creek, ID; Brent (Carol) Rasmussen, of Deer Park, WA; Lynden (Linda) Rasmussen, of Spokane, WA; and Kaylan (Carolyn) Rasmussen, of Deer Park, WA; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and one sister Mildred Bosen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Weldon, in 1996, two brothers, three sisters, and by her 18 month old son Reese William in 1938 which she spoke of as the most difficult time in her life.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mink Creek LDS Chapel with Bishop Kent Egley conducting. A viewing will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church in Mink Creek. Interment will be in the Mink Creek Cemetery.
