Boise - Edna Checketts Jensen, our sweet mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend passed on July 31st, 2011. She passed in her sleep with her family by her side. Edna was 95.
Edna was born on August 27th, 1915 to Andrew and Dora Checketts. She was the third child of eleven, born in Fairview, Idaho. She grew up in Weston, Cornish and Preston, Idaho, but most of her childhood was on the "the farm" in Dayton, Idaho. They didn't have lots of money but they always had lots of love and laughter. Edna believed the best medicine was laughter every day. Edna met the love of her life, Stanley D. Jensen in 1933 and they were married in Ogden, Utah, December 5th, 1935. They started their life's adventure together in Preston, Idaho before moving to Long Beach, California, where they resided and raised their family. Edna had two children, S. Don Jensen and JoAnn Marie. She was sealed to her husband and two children in the Los Angeles Temple on October 3rd, 1959
Edna was a very active member of the LDS faith. Edna always loved working with children and she shared this love while working in the church 20 years in the Primary organization. Edna's other joy was tending her garden. She took great pleasure in having the prettiest garden in the neighborhood. After Stan retired, they moved to Boise, Idaho, where they enjoyed traveling the Northwest and fishing for salmon in their motor home. They lived in Boise, Idaho the rest of their life.
Edna had a wonderful reunion with her soul mate and her mother and father and her brothers and sisters that had previous passed, on Sunday in heaven. Edna was so excited to be with Stan again. She loved him more than words could say and has missed him the last 20 years and was looking forward to that day.
Edna Jensen leaves her two children S. Don Jensen (Sandra) of Atlanta, GA; and JoAnn Marie Jensen Ferguson (Jim) of Boise, ID. She leaves 10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She also has 5 brothers and sisters left, Lynn Checketts of Tremonton, Utah, Opal Parkinson of Franklin, ID, Wendell Checketts of Mexico, Eyelyn Morgan (Marion) of Preston, ID and Connie Vernon (Stewart) of Salt Lake, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 6, at 1:00pm at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 8th East Preston, Idaho. Graveside service will follow at 3:00pm in the Logan City Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
