Douglas Ray Profaizer

Douglas (Doug) Ray Profaizer, 75, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones after a long and valiant battle with Multiple Myeloma on Friday, January 24, 2025. Doug was born in Ogden, Utah, on August 28, 1949, to Frank Camillo and Adelia LaPray Profaizer. He had two sisters; Barbara and Adelia Patricia, and 5 brothers; Gary, Dick, Frank, Bob, and Chuck. He grew up in Hooper and Roy, Utah, later moving to Preston, Idaho, and graduating from Preston High School, Class of 1967. He enlisted in the United States Army National Guard. Honorably serving from 1968 to 1991.

He married Janet Crookston on November 22, 1975, in the Logan Utah Temple. They were blessed with four children Adelia, Candace, Sterling, and Bracken.

He was taught at a young age to work hard and do it right the first time. He wasn’t afraid to use his resources to accomplish the task and then “Dougify” it to meet Doug’s standard. He exemplified these attributes as he raised his children.

Doug enjoyed working with his hands and problem solving. Some of his hobbies include welding, mechanics, camping, family history, watching shows, tinkering, being meticulous about his trucks, and organizing pictures on thumb drives for his family to cherish for years. Doug enjoyed finding beauty around him, in the sunrise, sunset, flowers and birds always commenting on what a “pretty day” it was even on the gloomy ones. He loved being behind the wheel and enjoying God’s many creations.

Doug took his role of a provider seriously and made sure his family was always taken care of. Amongst other jobs, he worked in the USU Physical Plant for over 35 years, retiring only to return to housing until his diagnosis in 2014.

Doug was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Serving in many different capacities such as a cub master, young men's leader and diligent home teacher. His testimony continued to grow as he and his sweetheart studied for countless hours daily, even through his health challenges and inability to attend and serve in his home ward.

His positivity was contagious as he encouraged us to “think positive” up until his last breaths.

Doug is survived by Janet Crookston Profaizer of Hyde Park, Utah; his loving wife and eternal companion who cared for him tirelessly for many years; and their children; Adelia (Moose) Mountcastle of Smithfield, Utah and their children Keitha Kerrin, Nelson, and Keegan; Candace (Jeremiah) Duersch of Nibley, Utah and their children Kiley (Caden and son Ira), Keslie (Ethan), Payton, Jacey, and McKay; Sterling (Haylee) Profaizer of Grantsville, Utah and their children Titan, Tynlee, Trek, and Tenysen; Bracken (Brittany) Profaizer of Wheatland, Wyoming and their children Bronson and Bryndle. His brothers Frank (LeAnna) Profaizer of Layton, Utah/Malad, Idaho; Robert (Gayle) Profaizer of Tremonton, Utah; Charlie (Tammy) Profaizer of North Logan, Utah; Cheryl Cope of Salt Lake City, Utah/Florida.

Preceded in death by his parents; Frank and Adelia Profaizer, His sisters; Adelia Patricia and Barbara Lucille, His brothers; Gary, and Richard (Pat) Cope, His Father and Mother-In-Law; Spencer & Elsa Crookston.
