Douglas Adam Keller

Douglas Adam Keller (60) passed away on October 10, 2024 at his home, surrounded by family. He was born on October 26, 1963 in Preston, Idaho to Glenn and Geralynn Hobbs Keller. He was the second of five children. Doug lost his father when he was just 12 years old and his mother when he was 18. Because of his life experiences, he was very resilient, disciplined and had a strong work ethic that helped him have a successful life.

He married Shelley Dee Hall on April 20, 1990 and were later sealed in the Logan Temple on February 26, 1994. Together they had one daughter, Kelsie Dee, and built their lives in Preston, Idaho. Doug also had a daughter Echo Dawn, both of whom he cherished. His greatest joy in life were his three granddaughters, Allison Goss, Brylie and Kamryn Ricks.

Doug graduated from Preston High School in 1982 and the Autobody Repair program at Idaho State University, in 1983. He worked at Economy Auto. He then worked at LeGrand Johnson Ready-Mix for over 28 years, a job where he made many lasting friendships with coworkers and those he associated with.

Doug joined the Army National Guard in 1982 and was active until December 1994. In 1992, he joined the Franklin County Volunteer Fire Department and was an active member for over 30 years.

Doug began chariot racing at a young age with his grandfather, Raymond Hobbs, which was a fun winter family activity every Saturday at the Little Santa Anita Racetrack in Linrose. He later purchased the track and land with his two brothers and continued the legacy of Chariot racing when he bought his first of many teams. He was a member of the Cache Valley Cutter Association and later with the All-American Chariot Racing Club in Afton, Wyoming which earned him over 20 belt buckles. He started a mini hobby farm where he spent his spare time caring for his horses and other farm animals. Most recently he purchased draft horses and wagons and was enjoying parades and sharing wagon rides with Hyde-Away-Ranch.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Saints and had a strong testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and the plan of salvation. One of his favorite and most recent callings was in the nursery. Doug loved the little kids, and they loved him.

Doug was an extraordinary man. He cherished his friendships and all those he associated with. He had a very special relationship with all his nieces and nephews, whom he often spent time with.
