Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Alene, was born on October 28, 1931 in Mapleton, Idaho to Albert Webster and Priscilla Alder Marshall Bowman. She was raised in Cub River, Idaho, the youngest of eleven children. She was taught at a young age the value of work, and was a perfect example on what that meant, setting a high standard of excellence and pride in doing the right job the first time. She married F. Burke Godfrey on March 29, 1949, they met dancing at the Persiana in Preston and continued to dance throughout their marriage. They served as dance directors for the Gold and Green Ball. The were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm, working in the fields, driving truck, feeding hired men and anything else that needed to be done. Later in life they spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona.
Alene spent many hours quilting, crocheting, making porcelain dolls and painting. She loved to shop, especially for clothes, shoes and jewelry. She is known for her beautiful yard full of flowers and her tidy home. For many years she was in charge of the beautification of the town square and the Clarkston City Cemetery. She served several years in Relief Society and was in charge of flowers for many funerals, enjoyed singing in the Ward Choir, and traveling. A few places she loved to visit were St. Louis, Nauvoo, Hawaii, Florida, Rome and a cruise to the Caribbean. She worked at Utah State University, Rudy’s Greenhouse and Cache Valley Dairy as well as working on several Clarkston City booths at the Cache County Fair where they received many 1st place ribbons.

She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Clarkston Cemetery.
