Don Charles Workman

Don Charles Workman passed away on January 15, 2025, in Preston, Idaho, at the age of 92. Don was born October 28, 1932, at home on the old ranch, located on the flat between Riverdale and Treasureton, Idaho. He was the youngest son of Myrl Workman and Rhoda E. McCarrel Workman. He joined a family of four living siblings; sisters, Lena Margaret, Bernice McCarrel, Dessie Anona; one brother, Daryl Hyrum, with one deceased sister, Audrey M. The family grew when Wanda Charmaine was adopted.

Don was a graduate of the one room grade school in Treasureton and the Preston High School class of 1950. While in high school, he had roles in the musical performances and played on the baseball team. Following graduation, he worked multiple jobs until settling on the family farm in Treasureton, a lifelong occupation.

His life centered around his family and becoming a successful farmer and rancher. With his background in agriculture, Don was a board member of the Idaho Grain Producers Association for the U.S. Wheat Commission, a representative on the local ACS committee, and the Franklin County Grain Growers. He experienced the trip of the lifetime as a representative for U.S. Wheat, visiting seven Pacific Rim countries and Bangladesh. He was a great supporter of the 4‑H, a charter member of the USU Training Table, and a champion for Gossner Cheese, as he was also a dairyman. In later years, he spent winters in Arizona, riding 4 wheelers with friends. He was also a charter member of the local gas station “hot chocolate/coffee club”.

Don’s family includes; R. Scott Workman (Leanne Smith) of Treasureton; Dawn Lee Richards (Don) of Smithfield, Utah; Rozann Wood (William “Sput”) of North Logan, Utah; Todd B Workman (Krysta Christensen) of Riverdale, Idaho, and Randy Lowe (Sheila), a nephew, of Pocatello, Idaho. He married Dorothy Ann Burton on October 8, 1954. After many years they divorced.

He is proceeded in death by his parents; sisters and their spouses, Lena Pratt (Harold), Bernice Deschenes (Amedee), Anona Lowe (Con); brother, Daryl Workman; brother-in-law, Dale Phillips; grandson, Hadley W Wood; and great grandniece, Bella Hanson. The family is very grateful to Heritage Senior Living and Hands of Hope for their compassionate service and the many friends he made through these associations.
