Sunset, Utah - - - Diane G. Stevenson
Sunset - Diane Glover Stevenson, 81, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 in Ogden, Utah at McKay Dee Hospital. She was born on December 31, 1929 in Lewiston, Utah to Chester Lawrence and Elva Lona Wheeler Glover. She married Ralph Thomas on August 15, 1949 and they were later divorced. She later married Wilford D. Stevenson on July 1, 1966. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1993.
After high school, Diane attended and graduated from beauty school. She worked many years performing administrative work for various offices at Hill Air Force Base, in Clearfield, Utah. She was an excellent gardener and was very proficient in her work, sharing her produce with friends and neighbors. She grew many apricots and grapes among other fruits and vegetables. She enjoyed camping with her husband Wilford and particularly liked camping in Quartzsite, Arizona. She had a passion for learning, especially studying or learning about history and historical events. She was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many different callings. Diane had also dedicated her last few years to providing many hours of devoted care to her sister Lona Holt.
She is survived by her nephew Terry (Edith) Simmonds, of Lewiston, UT; a niece Linda Hyde, of Preston, ID; nephews Jordan Simmonds, of Lewiston; and Kyle (Gay) Hyde, and their children Tyson (Amy) Hyde, Andrew (Ali) Hyde, and Wesley Hyde, of Logan, UT; a sister Donna Goodwin, of Lewiston; and Bonnie Kay Mickelson, of Maple Valley, WA; four step-children Darlene (Bert) Hamblin, Billy (Glenda) Stevenson, Becky (Mark) Carter, and Mac (Ann) Stevenson; 29 step-grandchildren, and 72 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilford, and two sisters Lona and Mildred.
An extended viewing will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon in the Lewiston 2nd Ward building, 10 South 1600 West in Lewiston. Interment will be in the Lewiston Cemetery.
