Deon W. Kingsford, 88, passed away December 28, 2016 at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. He was born June 5, 1928 in Cove, Utah the son of Dee Day Kingsford and Phyllis Whitehead Kingsford. He married JoAnn Smith on June 25, 1954 in Hyrum, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple.
He loved the outdoors hunting in the hills of Franklin and fishing especially at the Blackfoot Resevoir. He also enjoyed gardening and farming. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as a faithful home teacher. He also enjoyed the “Coffee Group” at La Tienda visiting daily with his good friends. He worked at Utah State University in the Physical Plant in maintenance and he was employed there until his retirement. The family would like to thank the Heritage Home and Access Hospice (especially Thelma Roley) for their loving care of Deon.
He is survived by a daughter, DeAnn (Lynn) Foster of Preston, Idaho; a son, Richard (Robin) Kingsford of Shelley, Idaho; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; and by a son, Gary Kingsford.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017 at noon in the Franklin Stake Center with Bishop Denton Harris conducting. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho and Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Franklin Cemetery.
