Preston - Dee Vern Steed, 77 passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. He was born July 11, 1931 in Tremonton, Utah to Vernon and Tressie Neal Steed. He married DeLores Larsen on September 20, 1963 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
Dee was a life-long farmer and rancher. He also made saddles by hand for many years. He enjoyed gardening, making fence silhouettes and spending time with his wife of 47 years and being with his family.
He is survived by his wife DeLores, of Preston; three sons Kerby Steed of Roosevelt, UT; Kelly (Brenna) Steed of Casper, WY; Steven (Machele) Steed, of Newton, UT; and a daughter Brenda (Chris) Christensen, of Pendleton, OR; nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild; two sisters EvaLou Laub, of St. George, UT; Linda Kirkblade, of Burley, UT; two brothers Carl (Molly) Steed, Snowville, UT; and Lyle (Kathlene) Steed, Stone, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters Nola Thompson, Darlene Funk, and Elaine Chadwick.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston 11th Ward Chapel, 55 East 1st South with Bishop Alan Holt conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 East Oneida, in Preston and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Garland, Utah Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.
