Debra Lee Gilmore (maiden Rich), born on July 17, 1951, in Riverside, California, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, in Preston, ID at the age of 72 after an extended battle with cancer.
Debra moved with her family to Paso Robles, California at the age of 8 and finished her schooling there, graduating from Paso Robles High School in 1969 and married her high school sweetheart, Stephen Edward Gilmore. They started their family there in 1971, before moving to Preston, Idaho in 1973 to help start a congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Debra was an energetic and joyful spirit, known for her deep love of travel and her commitment to her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Debra’s life was marked by dedicating herself to her ministry full time, a calling she pursued fervently from 1970 until her passing. Her faith was an integral part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Jehovah's Witnesses, participating actively to share her faith with others in her community.
In addition to her ministry work, Debra spent 17 years with JCPenney, making lifelong friends with both customers and employees. She also cherished her time spent in exercise classes, volunteering at the local swimming pool, taking pride in keeping her adopted highway clean with Friends of Riverdale, tending to her garden, and exploring new places with her Mom, Sister and Aunts. These hobbies brought great joy and fulfillment to her life, reflecting her vibrant and adventurous spirit.
Debra is survived by her loving husband, Stephen; daughters, Rosalind (Santiago Gale) and Corinne; mother, Julie Rich, sister, Donna; brother, Jonathan Rich (Carol Ann); and grandchildren, Austin, Cameron, Jack, and Isabella. She was preceded in death by her father, Calvin Rich.
Webb Funeral Home in Preston, Idaho, is handling the memorial arrangements, which will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 2:00pm (MST). For those not able to attend a streaming link will be provided. Debra's life and legacy will be celebrated by her family in a manner befitting her joyful and loving spirit. Her family and friends will remember her for her unwavering enthusiasm for life, her dedication to her faith, and the warmth she brought to every encounter.
