Taylor, Idaho Deana W. Jensen
Taylor - Deana Lowe Wells Jensen, age 91, died Sat. Aug. 8, 2009 at her home in Taylor. She was born Sept. 9, 1917 in Franklin, Idaho to Reuben Doney Lowe and Annie Evelin Durrant Lowe.
She attended Bonida Elementary School and Franklin High: graduated from Utah State University with Bachelor of Science in 1962: and in 1969 an earned a Masters of Science Degree in Speech Pathology. For 23 years she was employed as a Speech Pathologist in the Idaho Falls, Shelly, and Firth Schools.
Also, she was an artist and a member of the Idaho Falls Art Guild. She authored five books (with Heavens Wildfire, being the best known) and many short stories and poems. She was named "Writer of the Year" from the State of Idaho and won the "Vardis Fisher Award" for humor.
Deana was president of Idaho Writers League in 1990 and was a member of the Western Writers of America. Over the years she gave many lectures on Writing and Self- Publishing, and was the winner of the Idaho State Toast- Masters Speech contest.
She married J. Greene Wells in 1935 and lived in Preston for 27 years where Greene owned and operated the Cash Valley Livestock Auction. The couple, with their three of their children, moved to Idaho Falls in 1962. Greene died in 1975. Two years later Deana married Don Jensen. They lived in Taylor where Don died in 1992. Deana is survived by one daughter -- Karen [Bill] Brisco from Taylor, Id. and Mesa, Az., three sons: Ross [Laura] Wells of Idaho Falls, Van [Gin] Wells of Shelley and Cliff [Karen] Wells of Woodland, Washington; 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Preston 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 213 South 2nd East in Preston. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 12:30 at the chapel prior the service. Burial will be at the Preston Cemetery following the service.
