David Bruce Kerr

David Bruce Kerr, the California Beach Bum who later converted to a proud Idaho citizen, graduated from this mortal life on June 28th, 2023.  David was born in California on May 11, 1950.  He was the second child of James and Shirley Kerr.  He spent his life building those up around him.  Even when he literally didn’t have two legs to stand on.  He found joy through service to his God, his family, his community, and his country.

He served his God as a full-time missionary in Argentina, as a Primary leader, as a High Council member, and several other callings in between.  He served his family as a father, provider, self-employed contractor, resident comic relief, self-proclaimed favorite uncle / brother / grandpa, and chief engineer.  He served his community as an EMT, FireFighter, and Smartie payload specialist.  He served his country in the military and as a Patriot Guard Rider to honor his fellow veterans.

Dave was so proud to be an adopted son of Preston.  He often said that he was lucky to marry the best girl from the best place on earth.  The community of Preston officially honored his service by naming him The Festival of Lights Lamplighter in 1998 and The Preston Citizen of the Year in 2012.  Dave was honored to receive these awards, but found his greatest joy in performing service in secret.  To him, the best reward was knowing that someone somewhere received what was needed.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Kerr, and daughters, Randilynn Stolworthy and Hollie Kerr.  Oh how joyous their reunion must have been!  He is survived by the entire Kerr Clan.  Until we meet again David.  Until we meet again.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Preston 1^st Ward Chapel, 213 East 2nd S. Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held Sunday from 6-8 pm at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E. Preston, Idaho and again prior to the service Monday from 9:30-10:30 at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Idaho Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
