Golda Darlene King, 86, returned to her Father In Heaven on the morning of March 15, 2014 in Preston, Idaho.
Darlene was born on February 20, 1928 in Mink Creek, Idaho, to Julius and Della Jepsen. She is the youngest of six children. Freamon (Ada) Jepsen, Ella (Lloyd) Elwood, Ella (Grant) Jones, Lester (Loa ) Jepsen, and Valora (Morris) Parry.
She attended grade school at Glenco Elemantary, in Mink Creek then later moved to Preston and lived with her sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Grant while attending high school, a year later her family moved to Preston. While working at the Isis Theater as a 'theater girl' she met John Grant King, of Lewiston Utah. Later they were married in the Logan LDS temple on April 8, 1949. Together they raised four children; Eloise (Kevin) Ogden, Garth (Anne) King, Darrell (Alice) King, and Chad (Kathleen) King. Together they enjoyed their 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren (with one of they way), and gladly relished the role of 'community grandparents' to many others.
She served many callings in the LDS church such as Young Women's and Relief Society teacher, Stake Missionary, Primary Teacher, Ward Single Adult Leader, Visiting Teacher, and a worker in the Logan LDS temple baptistry. She was also an active member of DUP and served in the Preston Auxiliary group as a Pink Lady. Darlene loved to travel, attend plays, shows and anything and everything that her grandkids were involved in. She was a great cook and shared that talent with many; her biggest joy came from giving her time and service to others.
Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, John, both parents, two brothers, one sister, and her son-in-law, Michael Bronson.
The family would like to thank those who have touched her life and brought her comfort and joy. A viewing will be held in her honor.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Fairview Second Ward Chapel with Bishop John Griffeth conducting.
