Dayton, Idaho - - - Daniel Dale Cahoon
Dayton - Daniel Dale Cahoon returned to his family in Heaven on May 9, 2012 at Pocatello, Idaho. He was born on December 22, 1919, in Tremonton, Utah, to Chloe Elizabeth Ransom and Alonzo Alvero Cahoon. He married Eva Smith on April 11, 1940, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dan attended the Preston Academy. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945. Dan was a farmer for most of his life. He owned and operated a service station in Dayton, Idaho. He was employed as a mechanic for West Side School District and retired from the Franklin County Grain Growers. During his life he was an avid bowler and belonged to many bowling leagues. His second love was golfing. He was a long time member of the Preston Golf and Country Club.
He loved to spend time with his family and enjoyed working with his sons.
He was loved very much and will be forever missed by his family.
Dan's family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his two sons and three daughters. Gary (Lorna) Cahoon of Dayton, Idana (Alan) Phillips of Idaho Falls, Stan (Coral) Cahoon of Weston, Eva Gene (Donnie) Newbold of Franklin, and Cindy (Mike) Tomlinson of Boise. He is also survived by his sister Rhoda Sparrow of Preston. Dan was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 41 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, four siblings and one great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at noon in the Dayton Ward LDS Church with Bishop Wesley Beutler conducting. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, and Tuesday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services.
