Dale William Greenlee

Dale William Greenlee, age 79, passed away peacefully June 4, 2023, in Preston ID. He was born July 20, 1943, in Montpelier ID to Herbert and Lois Greenlee. He was the oldest of three children. He had three boys Craig and Scott Nussbaum, and Robbie Greenlee. He also raised Dawn and Gary Ferrier as his own.

He is preceded in death by his son Craig Nussbaum, his parents Herbert and Lois Greenlee, and his sister Carol. He is survived by his sons Scott (TaRhea) Nussbaum, Robbie (Corrie) Greenlee, Gary Farrier, his daughter Dawn (Paul) Farrier, his granddaughter Millie Christensen Greenlee; and by a brother, Dennis (Penny) Greenlee.

Dale drove a semi-truck for 27 years hauling livestock for the Miller Company. There, he went by the handle "Daddy Long Legs". He enjoyed taking his family on the road with him. He was able to in-steal the value of hard work to his family. He enjoyed teaching his family how to drive a truck. As a livestock driver he faced many challenges keeping the herds safe and arriving in good health. But he was good at it and enjoyed the job. Dale learned the value of a “rain dance” while loading pigs, because pigs had a mind of their own and took a whole lot more patience than cattle! Dale was a kindhearted man and while hauling cattle if they gave birth to calves, he would move the calves to a doghouse to keep them safe from being trampled and to make sure he didn’t short the load. Dale was a very tall man at 6’ 6.5” so for the Miller Co. Christmas parties he was used as Santa’s elf. Dale liked to joke around and loved to laugh.

When not out on the road wrestling livestock, Dale enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed taking his family to Lagoon. In his later years Dale enjoyed flirting with the nursing staff and making people laugh. Dale loved spending time with his granddaughter Millie. She loved to hear grandpa tell stories and loved the sound of his laughter.

Dale will be deeply missed but we are happy he can now see and walk again.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at 12:00 p.m. in the Montpelier Idaho Cemetery.  Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
