Preston, Idaho - - - Dale P. Christensen
Preston - Dale P. Christensen, 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, at his home in Preston. He was born Sept. 16, 1924, in Logan, Utah, the second child of Victor and Lucille Perkins Christensen.
He joined the Navy and was stationed in the Pacific on Manis in the Admiralities during World War II. He spent the last two years of his six year term in Alaska.
He met (through his Uncle Reed) and married Leila Spackman on Nov. 11, 1948, in Preston, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. She preceded him in death on Aug. 27, 1998. He enjoyed working with Don Greaves at the Central Market. He joined the Jaycees, the Jeep Club and did a lot of hunting with Don. When Don sold the Central Market, Dale worked for the School District until he retired. He loved to fish and hunt- you could always find him out on Foster Resevoir.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters, Louis Dale (Geri) Christensen of Logan, Utah; Janna (Terry) Mortenson of Soda Springs, Idaho; Sherie (Dee) Isaacson of Brigham City, Utah; Blair Christensen of Wendover, Nevada; nine granchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and by two brothers and two sisters, Louis Christensen of Pocatello, Idaho; LuDean Christensen of North Palm Beach, Florida; Charlette (George) Maxwell of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Carol (Bill) Callahan of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and by a son, Cherrill Christensen.
The family would like to express their thanks to Access Health Care (Randy, JaNell, Thelma and Maria) for their wonderful care, love and friendship and to a very special person, JoAnn Remund who helped so much through this time. Also, a special thanks to Dr. Beckstead and staff and Franklin County Medical Center for their care. Also to Bishop Mark Beckstead, Bruce and Kim Nate, home teachers and all the friends and family who helped- you will always be remembered in our hearts. And last, but not least, all of his coffee buddies- thank you, you all made our day!
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at noon at Webb Funeral Home's new facility, 1005 South 800 East, Preston, Idaho. Friends may call Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. also at the mortuary. Military rites and interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
