CLIFTON, IDAHO - - CONNIE WESTOVER
CLIFTON- Connie Viehweg Westover, 77, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston, Idaho. She was born Sept. 6, 1931, in Clifton, Idaho, to Lott Aberhart and Adell Moser Viehweg. She was the third child in a family of three girls and four boys.
She married Don A. Westover on Aug. 10, 1949, in the Logan LDS Temple. Except for one year that Connie and Don lived in Swan Lake, Idaho, she lived her entire life in Clifton.
She worked for the J.N. Larsen Title Company for 13 years where she sold vehicle and fire insurance, map platting and title clearance work. She also audited books for several local irrigation companies. The last 20 years of her working career she spent as a loan officer for the USDA. Working for the USDA gave her the chance to work in Washington, DC at the Department of Agriculture twice for two-week periods and in Atlanta, Georgia one summer for Price Waterhouse developing software for the computer systems for the Dept. of Finance. She also served as President and Vice-President of the Idaho Professional Women's Association.
She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings in the Primary and MIA. She also served a mission with her husband to Dallas-Ft. Worth Texas. Following her retirement, she and Don started spending their winters in Salome, Arizona. They made many friends there and enjoyed the warm weather. When spring came, they were happy to return to friends and family in Idaho.
She is survived by her husband, Don, of Clifton; a son, Val (LaRee) Westover of Clifton; two daughters, JaNeil (Kurtis) Buttars of Weston, Idaho; Peggy (Jed) Rawlings of Bountiful, Utah; 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, two sisters, ReNee Viehweg of Clifton, Adell Viehweg of Salt Lake City, Utah; and two brothers, Marlow Viehweg of San Jose, California and Clark Viehweg of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents and by two brothers, Gene and Joe Viehweg.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. in the Clifton Second Ward Chapel with Bishop LaWrell Cook conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 109 E. Oneida, Preston, and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Clifton Cemetery.
