Richmond - Connie Jean Phillips Bunn 82, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2013 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah. She was born on January 3, 1931 to Moroni Lorenzo Phillips and Ida Callan Phillips in Dayton, Idaho, where she was raised. She graduated from West Side High School in 1949 and four years later as a 22 year old proudly obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Teaching Certificate in Speech and Drama Education from Utah State University.
Her days at USU were some of the best days of her life. While attending USU she was employed at the campus Bookstore, the old Bell Telephone Company and worked in the shoe department at the old Woolworth's in Logan. She married Gerald Don Bunn on July 11, 1956 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Salt Lake City, Boise Idaho, and Smithfield before making their house in Richmond, the place that they called home.
Connie was a substitute teacher for Cache County School District for about 14 years while raising her two children. She then taught 5th grade at Park Elementary School in Richmond until she retirement in 1995. She loved her students, they all would tell her many years later what an awesome teacher she was.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings in the Church, including Young Women's President , Relief Society Counselor in both her Ward and Stake. She taught Sunday School and Primary. She loved to plan and participate in Road Shows and Gold and Green Balls.
Connie was a hard worker. She showed this in everything that she was asked to do by both her family and the Lord. She will always be grateful for her good parents, siblings, children and the most amazing friends and neighbors. Her life was a fantastic experience and one that she treasured deeply.
She is survived by her children Chad (Lorie) Bunn, Spanish Fork, Utah, Jeana (Kent) Frederick, North Ogden, Utah and four grandchildren Luke (Yulee) Frederick, Elisha (Patrick) Rhoades, Calee Frederick and McKella Bunn one sister, Donna Carlson, Richmond Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald (Jerry) Bunn, her parents, one sister Ella Kent and four brothers Donald, Stanley, Bland and Perry Phillips.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richmond City Creek Ward Chapel, 150 South 100 East, in Richmond, Utah with Bishop Mike Hall conducting. A viewing will be held on Friday from 7-9 p.m. at the church and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be in the Richmond Cemetery.
