Brigham City - Clifford Walter Samsel, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. His life was one of hard work, service, faithful endurance and generous giving to others. Cliff was born April 12, 1918, in Brigham City, Utah, the fifth child of Walter Kosuth Samsel and Abigail Rosenbaum. He attended West High School, where he played varsity football and later, graduated from Box Elder High School. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was stationed throughout the Pacific. Cliff married Cleo Eleanor Jordan in the Salt Lake Temple on September 12, 1941. He was a devoted husband and he and Cleo loved and cared for one another for over 56 years. Together they had 5 sons and one daughter.
He was a self taught electrician and worked for several years for the Brigham City Corporation. He later became a dairy farmer in Cornish, Cache Valley, Utah, until his retirement. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings throughout his life, including as a temple worker in the Ogden and Logan Temples. With his wife, Cleo, he served a mission in the London South Mission. Cleo passed away August 30, 1997.

Cliff married Lenna Christensen on April 12, 2003. Living in Mink Creek, Idaho, they have had over seven wonderful years of love and companionship. He was a dedicated and expert fisherman, a master gardener and a skilled taxidermist. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting. He played the harmonica for his own enjoyment.

Cliff is survived by his wife, Lenna and sons Wayne (Julie) of Greeley, Colorado; Lynn (Kathy) of Sandy, Utah; Lee (Myrna) of Logan, Utah; Dale (LeeAnn) of Sandy, Utah; foster son Casey (Emma) of Logan, Utah; 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo, daughter, Elaine and son, Grant. He loved his children, grand children and great grandchildren and claimed many others as his own.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 North State Street in Preston, Idaho 12:00 noon with Bishop Kent Egley conducting. A viewing will be held Friday from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home's new location, 1005 South 800 East in Preston, and Saturday from 11:-11:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the LDS Humanitarian Fund.
