CLARICE THOMAS HEDIN BIGGS 1-16-1917 TO 11-24-2010

Our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away November 24th at the Legacy Retirement Residence in South Jordan, Utah at the age of 93.

Clarice, the youngest of seven children, was born January 16, 1917 in Swan Lake, Idaho to William Moroni Thomas and Rachel Emily Tanner Thomas.

Her father and her Uncle Chauncey owned the Thomas Mercantile in Swan Lake, Idaho. She had many fond memories of helping her father at the store. She graduated from Downey High School. She studied piano at McCune School of Music in Salt Lake City. Clarice loved to play the piano and played for many occasions ever since she was a young girl.

Clarice met Gus Hedin while she was playing for a dance in Winder, Idaho. They married October 5, 1938 in the Logan, Utah Temple. They had five children. They owned a farm in Winder, Idaho.

Clarice loved to cook, sew, and crochet afghans. She taught piano in her home for many years. Some of her best moments were being around her family; she loved every one of them dearly.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in numerous callings, including Young Women's President, and organist and pianist for many years.

Gus died March 18, 1988. She later married Sidney Biggs from Preston, Idaho. He died in 1996. In 2000 she moved to Boise, Idaho to be near her daughter Virginia. In 2009 she moved to South Jordan, Utah to be near her daughter Francine.

She is survived by her children, Vance (Ofilia) Hedin, Cedar Crest, New Mexico; Francine (Brent) Cook, Murray, Utah; Virginia (Adrian) Mickelsen, Boise, Idaho; Ingrid (Theron )Toler, Clovis, California; Patsy (Ronald) Jensen, Stafford, Virginia; 24 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Alice Castleton. She was preceded in death by her husbands Gus and Sid, her parents, and her four brothers and two sisters.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice for Utah for their tender loving care, and also to the Legacy Retirement Center.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at noon in the Winder LDS Church with Bishop Alan Atkinson conducting. Friends may call Monday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
