Richmond - Claine Bullen Skidmore of Richmond, died on Sunday, September 2, 2012 . He was born June 21, 1931 in Logan, Utah, the second child of Leah Bullen and Elmer Gustave Skidmore. Claine was raised in Richmond, attended Park Elementary, Lewiston Jr. High, and graduated from North Cache High School. He attended Utah State University on a Union Pacific scholarship. He served in the Army Reserve and entered active duty during the Korean War stationed in Japan. He was honorably discharged in l955.

He married Beth Stoddard Skidmore in Richmond in l956. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in l975. They met when Claine was called to be the ward dance director with the option to choose any girl in the ward to be his partner. He chose Beth, and they remained partners from then on.

Claine worked for Leatham Brothers Trucking and Thiokol Trackmaster before becoming a full time farmer. He and his wife worked together owning and operating Skidmore Farms which was his father's farm combined with his grandfather Bullen's farm. He was a dedicated steward of the land and a tireless hard worker until his body failed him. He enjoyed the association of numerous young men who worked for him on the farm over the years, learning - sometimes the hard way - in what was jokingly called "Skidmore Driving School". His barnyard was "salesman heaven" as he seldom turned anyone away without an order.. He was honored by the North Cache Soil Conservation District as the Cooperator of the Year earning a trip to Arizona funded by Goodyear Inc.

Claine loved the community that he called home. He served three terms on the Richmond City Council and on the Richmond Irrigation Company board for twenty years, serving two terms as Board President. He was also a member of the Richmond Writing Club.

Claine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a true disciple of Jesus Christ with a private testimony and desire to quietly serve. His philosophy of life was instilled at an early age when he wood-burned his favorite saying as a Primary project. "An honest man is the noblest work of God."

Claine enjoyed a well-trained horse, hunting with dear friends and family, western movies, watching the Utah Jazz, and associating with and watching his grandchildren's activities. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally and took great pride in them. He taught them the value and dignity of hard work and honest labor.

Claine is survived by his wife, Beth , and five children " Jill (Mel) Erickson of Soldotna Alaska, Julie (Bruce) Godderidge of Smithfield, Utah, Lori Webb (Matt) Allred, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Brook (Shaunna) Skidmore, and Tara (Judd) Hillyard of Richmond and a brother-in-law, Don Boman of Logan. He is also survived and dearly loved by fourteen grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren , and fourteen great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. He is preceded in death by a son, Brett Irwin, son-in-law Lynn H. Webb, brother, Kurt, sister, Renee Boman, and his parents.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 6 at 12:00 noon at the Richmond Utah Stake building, 135 West Main. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. also at the stake center.
