Clearfield - Clain D. Hope was born Dec. 28, 1937 in Clifton, ID to John Sterling Hope and Esther Henderson. He attended school in Clifton and Preston, ID and Ogden, UT. He married Dorothy Lynette Dunn in 1956 before joining the U.S. Navy. They had 2 sons, Larry and Val, but were later divorced. In 1963 he met Sherry Cole. They were married in October 1965 and raised 3 children, Michelle, James and Kelli.
Claine served in the Navy from 1956 until 1987. During this time he earned 2 bachelors degrees in Economics and Accounting from Weber State University, graduating in 1976. He worked as truck driver and the Boeing Co. and as a civilian contractor for Hill Air Force Base before retiring in 2003. Claine was a lifelong sports fan, especially football. His favorite teams were of the U of U Utes, the USC Trojans and the Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and any kind of word puzzles and games of trivia.
He is survived by his children Larry (Debbie) of West Haven, UT, Val of Ogden, UT, Michelle, James and Kelli all of Clearfield, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry, and his parents.
He will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Weston Cemetery.
