Weston, Idaho - - - Chet M. Atkinson
Weston - On Sunday, November 17, 2013 our Heavenly Father called home a special son, Chet M. Atkinson. Chet was born on August 9, 1987 in Logan, Utah to David Lee and Gayla Balls Atkinson. Chet grew up in Lewiston, Utah spending most of his time hunting and fishing on the banks of the Cub River with his family and friends. Chet attended Sky View High School where he excelled in sports and making friends, especially those of the opposite sex. Chet was first team All State in football his senior year and the captain of the team every game that season, until he decided to tell a coach he disagreed with him. Chet also excelled in track and was state bound until he told the coach he wouldn't cut his hair. Chet was always one to speak his mind and to stand up for what he thought was right.
After high school, Chet joined the work force. He became a full time employee in the family business, Dave Atkinson's Roofing. He loved to work hard and was so proud of what he did. There were many things that Chet loved in life. he loved anything you could hunt, anything with a motor, and especially his dogs. Yet the greatest love of his life was his wife Ashley (Blackner) Atkinson. The two met at a bonfire next to the river. After a year of redneck dating, Chet proposed to Ashley on the tailgate of his pickup truck with two hound dogs singing in the background. They were married on August 21, 2009. His love for her was matched only by her love for him. They lived in Weston Idaho with their many dogs, several horses, and surrounded by neighbors that they loved. Chet wasn't one to make to church every Sunday, but you couldn't find a more Christ-like man. he was always serving others, always giving, even when it seemed he didn't have the means to be doing so. Chet's kindness and service touched many lives.
Chet was welcomed, with a grand reunion, to the other side by all those that have gone before him. His niece Jozie Atkinson, his grandfather Marsden Balls, his grandmothers Laura Lee and Ivy May Atkinson, and a host of dogs, some loved more than others. Chet was loved and will be missed by so many. We know we will see him again and that he will always be there to help us along our way. We love you Chet.
He is survived by his wife Ashley, of Weston, ID; his parents David and Gayla Atkinson, of Lewiston, UT; his brothers Steve (Liz) Atkinson, of Florence, OR; and Zeb (Gentry) Atkinson, of Clarkston, UT; his sister Callie (Tony) Moosman, of Amalga, UT; his nephews, Wyatt Atkinson and Kooper Moosman, and his grandfather Kendall Atkinson, of Hyrum, UT; and his grandmother Beatrice Balls, of Logan, Utah.
