Our sweet mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Carol Rosetta Prince Ward, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the age of 85 at the Temple View Transitional Care Center in Rexburg, Idaho. She died from complications following back surgery after a fall. Carol was born to Muncie Pat Prince and Minnie Leota Byers in Gilmer, Texas on September 7, 1939. She was the third child of seven children with two older brothers and four younger sisters.
She graduated from Mesa High School in Mesa, Arizona in 1958 where she was in the National Honor Society. She attended Lamson Business College in Phoenix, AZ receiving her Certificate/Diploma honing her secretarial skills, which she used at several jobs she worked at in her 20’s.
She met James Norman Ward at an LDS Stake Dance in Shreveport, Louisiana. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on February 16, 1965. Together they made their home in Bossier City, Louisiana. Carol is the mother of four children: Angela, Kelley, Alena, and Russell.
Carol was a stay-at-home mom until after her youngest was born. She then worked for several years as a secretary for Western Electric (AT&T), and Attaway Investments in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Carol was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding callings in the Primary, Sunday School, and Relief Society. She also served as a confidential typist for eight Bishops for nearly 30 years.
In 1990 the family moved to Logan, Utah, where Carol worked at Utah State University in the Business Department where she retired some years later as an Executive Secretary to the Dean of Business.
Carol, along with her husband Norman, later moved to Clifton, Idaho and then Preston, Idaho where they lived until he passed away in 2006. In 2016 Carol moved to the Heritage Senior Living in Preston, Idaho where she lived for eight years, then moved up to the Temple View Transitional Care Center in Rexburg, Idaho in 2024.
Carol is survived by her four children: Angela Payne (David), Kelley Danette, Alena Andreasen (Ryan), and Russell Ward (Gema). Her sisters: Linda Shipp, Jean Lindsay (Jim), Joan Haws (Dean), and Lana Starks (Ray). Twelve Grandchildren: Taylor Payne, Roxton Payne, Rylan Payne, Blake Germaine (Sadie), Lance Germaine, Paige Germaine, Bailey Hawkes (Tanner), Bronson Andreasen (Katie), Braeger Andreasen, Shayla Ward, Alyssa Hamilton (Juan). Eight Great-Grandchildren: Gemma Wilson, Aaro Ault, Rogan Germaine, Beau Hawkes, Winston Hawkes, CoraNova Kambestead, Osiris Hamilton, Octavius Hamilton. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Don and Ron Prince and her husband James Norman Ward.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 E., Preston, Idaho. Viewings will be held on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. both at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Franklin Idaho Cemetery.
