Carol Sorenson Andrews was born on December 22, 1931, in Mapleton, Idaho, to Chessney B. and Arminta Sorenson. She grew up and attended school in Mapleton and Preston. She married Lawrence G. Andrews of Logan, Utah, in 1951. Two children were born into the family, Sue and Steve. Carol was also blessed with a fine grandson, Steven.
Carol was proud to be a military wife. Prior to Lawrence’s retirement in 1978, the Army stationed them in Germany, Washington, Oregon, New York City, and finally Albuquerque, New Mexico. While she enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new cultures, throughout all of her travels and years away, Carol considered Preston, Idaho to be her home. She always had an abiding love for her parents and family. In 1989, she and Lawrence moved to Preston part-time.
Genealogy, gospel study, oil painting, and collecting antiques brought joy to Carol- as did her work for many years at the LDS Institute in Albuquerque. She loved helping the students and became a surrogate mother to many of them. Carol was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings in every branch and ward in which she lived. Her love of the Savior defined her life.
March 6, 2023, saw Carol peacefully pass away in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her daughter, Sue, by her side. Her spirit left its mortal coil and rose to meet her Savior and Redeemer and many beloved relatives and friends.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Lawrence; by a brother, Garnell and by a sister, Alithe. She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Jim Wilkie); by her son, Steve (Leigh-Ann); by a grandson, Steven (Sarah) Wilkie; by her sisters, Reva Boyack and Betty Wilkinson; by bonus grandchildren through marriage, Alex (Irina) Wilkie, Andrew (Samantha) Wilkie, Jessica (Chris) Manning; by many nieces and nephews; and by nine great-grandchildren.
Carol specifically requested there be no funeral service. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Logan Utah City Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at webbmortuary.com
