Carl William Parker, 83, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at the Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah. He was born Aug. 25, 1930 in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, the son of Oscar William and Marcia Irene Staples Parker.
He was employed in Miami, Florida as a master furniture builder. He later owned a lapidary store in Biloxi, Mississippi where he made custom jewelry for many years and was also a deputy for the sheriff's department. He later sold his store for his love of traveling which brought him to Preston, Idaho where he was a Forest Ranger and Camp Host for several years where he met his loving wife, Carol Purser Broadhead. Most everyone from the campground that knew Carl referred to him as "Willie Nelson".
Carl and Carol wed on Oct. 21, 1994 and they were camp hosts together for a few years in the summertime. They took many trips together in the winter enjoying Quartzite, Arizona. Carl enjoyed woodworking and building arts and crafts. He loved taking walks with his wife and spending time bird watching with her and observing wildlife.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Preston; seven step-daughters and two step-sons, Candy (Rusty) Broadus of Malad, Idaho; Robin (Brandon) Burrup of Franklin, Idaho; Forrest (Kim) Broadhead of Preston; Vance (Bridgett) Broadhead of Preston; Rhonda Broadhead of Preston; Nikki (Gary) Combs of Malad, Idaho; Carolyn (Jerry Jr. "Chico") Jimenez of Preston; Jackie Broadhead of Preston; Lindsay Broadhead of Preston; thirty-seven grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Louise Parker (William) Tash of Biloxi, Mississippi; and by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents and by a niece, Loretta "Lori Ann" .
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 8th East, Preston, Idaho with Bishop John Griffeth conducting. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home and Saturday from 2-2:45 p.m. also at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
