Carl Dean Haslam, 75, passed away on October 3, 2023, in Preston, ID, surrounded by family members. He was born the youngest of four to David and Myrna Haslam in Logan, UT. Carl was raised in Dayton, ID.
Carl graduated from Westside High School in 1967. Upon graduating, he served in the United States Navy. Carl married Kathy Perry on March 6, 1970, in Dayton, ID, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, UT temple.
He then attended General Motors trade school in Salt Lake City, UT, in the auto mechanics program. Carl spent many years working as a plant operator at Agrium in Soda Springs, ID, where he retired. He then drove school bus for the Preston School District.
Some of the things Carl enjoyed were hunting, working on cars, and tinkering in his shop. He also enjoyed visiting with others and always had time to visit with anyone and everyone. His storytelling and visits will be missed.
Carl is survived by his wife Kathy Perry, and two of his three children; Tammy (Juan) Martinez, Brian (Jerilyn) Haslam, and a daughter in law, Buffie Haslam (Matt) Hanks; and two siblings, Lloyd (Delores) Haslam, and Robert (Shirley) Haslam. Carl has six grandchildren and three great grandsons.
His parents preceded him in death along with a son JD Haslam, and a sister Marlene Fellows.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Thatcher-Williams Ward Building in Niter, ID. Viewings will be held on Friday from 6-8 pm at the church and again prior to the service on Saturday from 9:30-10:30. Interment will be in the Grace, ID Cemetery.
The family would like to express thanks to all those who cared for Carl at the Franklin County Medical Center and Heritage Home in Preston, ID, over the past 16 months.
