Preston, Idaho - - - Bruce D. Zabriskie
Preston - Bruce Douglas Zabriskie, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 13, 2014 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah due to complications from recent heart surgery. He was born on December 10, 1953 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Douglas Lynn and Evelyn Williamson Zabriskie. He was the second of six children.
Bruce brought joy to his family from day one. He loved animals and took great care of his pets. He was protective of his siblings and had many friends throughout his life. In Junior High and High School, Bruce participated in band playing both the tuba and drums. Bruce was a hard worker. He was a farmer, a cook at JB's, he worked at Nucor Steel, and Utah State University. His greatest joy was being a grandpa, a father, a brother, a step father and an uncle. His family was his top priority.
Bruce married Lori Sorensen on October 24, 1992 in Elko Nevada. They were later divorced. They had one son Wesley.
Bruce is survived by his son Wesley Douglas Zabriskie (Kenzie), of Preston; a grandson Zander Blaze; step daughter Amy Sorensen-Able (Brandon), and a step-son Travis Cole Sorensen (Amanda); his mother Evelyn Zabriskie Howard (Alan), his sisters Sheryl Barfus (Collin), and Becky Stewart (Randy Bastian), and his brother Ken Zabriskie (Jennifer), and a sister-in-law Cindy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, a sister Linda, and a brother Jeff. Bruce's kind heart and gentle spirit will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East in Preston. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
