Boyd Phillips

Joseph Boyd Phillips passed away on July 28, 2024, in Bountiful, Utah with his eternal companion, Jeraldine, by his side. Boyd was born May 19, 1938, in Brigham City, Utah to Joseph McCann Phillips and Inez Preston Phillips. After twenty-three years of marriage, Boyd was a miracle they never thought to have in their family.

He grew up and attended school in the Ogden area, having numerous friends and developing lifelong memories of youth. After graduating from Ogden High School in 1956, he attended Weber State University and served in the Utah National Guard. His summers were spent in Weston, Idaho working on the family dry farm.

Boyd married Jeraldine Meek on February 26, 1970, in the Idaho Falls Temple. This union united two families, Boyd’s three sons and Jeraldine’s three daughters. Boyd was a dedicated farmer and felt an obligation to be a good steward of the land. Together, Boyd and Jeraldine worked on their farm and provided a good living for their family. They enjoyed many winters in Salome, Arizona, in a house that Boyd built himself. Over the years they developed numerous friendships, enjoyed fishing at Blackfoot Reservoir in the summer, and explored the Arizona desert on four-wheelers in the winter. Boyd and Jeraldine lived in Weston, Idaho, until November 2020, when they moved to Bountiful, Utah, to be closer to family.

Boyd is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in various church and community positions throughout his life, doing so to the best of his abilities.Boyd had a great sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh. It was always a treat for the grandkids when Grandpa Boyd would send them a card or letter with a little poem or a corny picture. He had a gift of adding humor to the reality of life.

Boyd is survived by his wife, Jeraldine, and children Laurie (Brad) Buttars of Shelley, Idaho; Michelle (John) Sbraga of Bountiful, Utah; Marcia (David) Badger of Murray, Utah; David (Stephanie) Phillips of Spanish Fork, Utah; Glen (Sherice) Phillips of Syracuse, Utah. He is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren. Boyd was preceded in death by this parents, Jeraldine’s parents, Jerry and Maude Meek, two sons, Bradley and Scott Phillips, and two granddaughters Ann and Olivia Buttars. The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Creekside Care Center for their services and support.
