Blaine Merle Durrant passed away on January 11, 2019. He was born in Franklin Idaho on December 9th, 1935. He is the son of Thomas H. and Norma Shaffer Durrant. He attended school in Franklin, and graduated from Preston High School in Idaho. On June 20th, 1958 he married his sweetheart and love of his life, Vella D. Heaps, in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children who love them dearly. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and loved serving in many callings throughout his life. He served as a missionary in the Northern States Mission from 1955 – 1957. Later, together with his wife served a mission at the Richmond Seminary with the special need’s youth. He was a master story teller and he loved to regale with all of us, his stories and anecdotes of his adventures and experiences. His tireless service to others and willingness to help anyone in need was exemplary. He was loved and respected by many and we will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Vella D (Heaps) Durrant, two infant sons, and his parents Thomas H. and Norma Durrant. He is survived by his children Sue (Kurt) Mitton, Bob (Bev) Durrant, Darren (Tanya) Durrant, Steven Durrant, 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and his siblings: Lee (Kathy) Durrant, Dan (Joyce) Durrant, Ruth Ann Durrant.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday January 18, 2019 at the Lewiston 4th Ward building 16 South Main Street, in Lewiston Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday January 17, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston Idaho and prior to services on Friday January 18, 2019 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the church. We as a family would like to give thanks to the compassionate, professional and loving care our dad received while in the Rocky Mountain Care facility, as well as Rocky Mountain Hospice. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel to all of you, who so lovingly took such amazing care of our dad, you lovingly called grandpa!
