Beverly Jean May Hollingsworth Christensen " April 17, 1934-March 16, 2014.
Beverly Jean May Christensen passed away on March 16, 2014, surrounded by her loving husband, many children and grandchildren. Her love of family, music, and the arts did not end with her death. Her children and great grandchildren carry on her musical legacy. She said being a mom was the best job in the world and was the mother to seven children. The family spent many years doing musical programs, dressed in matching outfits Beverly made. She would continually tell the children, grandchildren, and the members of the ward choirs to "sing loud!"
Beverly was born at Port Hill, Idaho on April 17, 1934 to James Alfred and Naomi Jane Tolman May.
While Beverly was attending the University of Idaho, she met her future husband, Clair Maylon Hollingsworth. They were sealed in the Logan temple on July 15, 1953. Beverly received her BS in Education from Utah State University. She later received her master's degree in June 1992.
On April 13, 1991, Beverly married Kimber Christensen, and two families who grew up together became one. During their marriage, they traveled many places including Singapore, Hawaii, Branson, MO, several church history trips, and five cruises.
Beverly is known far and wide for her cooking and everyone delighted in being a beneficiary of anything she made. Some of her specialties included Danish, crepes, cinnamon rolls, and chocolate covered rice krispies eggs for Easter. She learned many of her skills working at a bakery for 7 years. She also enjoyed sewing, singing the arts, and seeing her children and grandchildren perform.
The gospel of Jesus Christ and her family were the most important things in her life. One of Beverly's favorite instructions to family members was, "Do all the good things." She served in various church capacities including Relief Society president, stake music director, etc. She never let her children use notes for talks in church and was involved in everything from missions and scouting to 4-H, rodeo, and PTA.
She is survived by her husband, Kimber Christensen and the Hollingsworth children: Greg (Linda, Preston, ID), Tracie (Rand Jensen, Franklin, ID), Guy (Christine, Idaho Falls, ID), Jeff (Lee, Preston, ID), Darren (Mary, Herriman, UT), Chris (Katie, Logan, UT), and Laurie (Lance Hemsley, Preston, ID) and the Christensen children: Julie (Verl Hansen, Preston, ID), Kevin (Tammy, Herriman, UT), Kathy (Kimber, Preston, ID), Chad (Monica, Logan, UT), Penny (Heather, Weston, ID). She leaves behind 39 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Beverly always remembered all of the many birthdays and anniversaries.
