Beverly Kaye (Hitchcock) Hyden, 73, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, while living at the Rocky Mountain Nursing Home in Logan, Utah. Beverly was born in September 1951, in Booneville, Mississippi. She was the second child and first daughter of Mary Kate (Jones) and Jeffie Andrew Hitchcock and grew up in Booneville until the age of 17. Beverly’s family moved to Utah where she met and fell in love with Lex Marion Hyden. After a short courtship, they were married on November 7,1969, in the Logan LDS temple. They enjoyed 55 years of marriage and were blessed with three children. Beverly’s favorite hobbies involved anything and everything related to family. She loved to camp (especially at Swinging Bridge), fish, spend time in the desert, and play cards. She was thrilled to be a mother, grandmother (MeMe), and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her mother and acting as her chauffeur since Mary Kate did not have a drivers license. Beverly was also close with her mother-in-law, Jacqueline, and together created “Spookythanksmas” which was a combined holiday celebration and annual Hyden family tradition for many years. Beverly had major health issues stemming from a terrible vehicle accident in 1999 and was bedridden for the last two years. Considering her immobility, she stayed positive and never complained. She always had a smile on her face, joy in heart, and warmly welcomed visitors.
Beverly shared a memory that when she was only five years old she had a chance to see David O. McKay. She said she had to stand on a chair to catch a glimpse and remembered seeing something like a halo shinning over his head. She recalled getting a warm, soft, and loving feeling at that moment and that is where her testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ began. She was Baptized as a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when she was eight years old in Belleview, Florida, by her father. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she served in the Cub Scouts, as Relief Society Secretary, and as a wonderful Visiting Ministering Sister.
Beverly was preceeded and ready to join in death with her parents, Jeffie Andrew and Mary Kate (Jones) Hitchcock; spouse, Lex Marion Hyden; son, Jeffry Allen Hyden; son-in-law, Lewis Ray Larson; grandsons, Brandon Allen Hyden and Markus Jeffry Padilla; and adopted son, Jeffrey Allen (J.T.) Titara, and sister-in-law Kathy McFadden Hitchcock. Beverly is survived by her daughters, Kimberly and Amber; sister, Sheila (Richard) Cammack; brothers, Albert (Diane) Hitchcock and David Hitchcock; 11 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and so many others that Beverly opened her heart and door to over the years.
The family would like to thank the Rocky Mountain Nursing home for Beverly’s care these last few years and for Hospice who comforted and helped Beverly and her family in her final days.
A Graveside Service will be held at the Smithfield Cemetery on May 16, 2025, at 3:00 PM to honor and remember both Beverly and her husband Lex who passed away in January. In addition, a Celebration of Life for both Lex and Beverly will be held from 5:30-7:00 PM at the College Ward Building, 2394 W 2200 S, College Ward, UT 84339
