Betty Jean Henderson, 96, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, at her home in Riverdale, Idaho. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and neighbor known for her unwavering love for her family and her passion for quilting and gardening.
Betty Jean Hammon was born on April 19, 1928, to Delbert Rasmus Hammon and Edith Anna Rockwood in Iona, ID. She had her first son Duane Christensen with Leo Christensen, they later divorced. She moved to Clearfield, UT where she worked at Hill Air Force Base and met Wenzell Urias Keller. They married and had 3 daughters, Nadine Umbel, Wendelene Seamons, and Laurine Bingham After Wenzell’s death, she went back to school, worked full-time, ran the farm, and raised her children. She later married Robert George Henderson and they added a baby boy, Robert Daren Henderson.
Betty found joy in the simple pleasures of life, spending countless hours creating beautiful quilts, nurturing her garden, and preserving her harvest. Her greatest pride came from her family, and she made everyone feel special and cherished. Betty's home was her favorite place in the world, where she welcomed everyone with open arms and a warm meal. She found great pride and joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who fondly recall the summers spent at her farm, learning and growing alongside her.
Throughout her life, Betty was a strong-willed and determined individual, traits that served her well as she balanced her roles as a devoted wife and mother. She was a proud matriarch to her family, including her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Betty also contributed to her community by helping with local elections, umpiring countless baseball games, and through her duties in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, reflecting her belief in service to others. She will be remembered not only for her talents in quilting, gardening, and baking but also for her ability to make each person in her life feel like they were her favorite.
She is survived by her son Duane (Vicki) Christensen of Logan, UT, Craig (Lou) Seamons of Centerville, UT, Jim (Joy) Bingham of Afton, Wy, Robert Daren (Shalae) Henderson of Preston, ID. Ruth Christensen of Nibley, UT, and Loni Miller of Shelley, ID. She is survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
