Betty Lou Barker

Betty Lou Bryant Barker, 84, passed away the evening of December 29, 2018 in Preston, Idaho. She was born January 16, 1934 in Pratt Kansas to Bertain Yancy and Bertha Cantrell Bryant. She was raised in Pratt and graduated as valedictorian and went on to pursue a career in nursing.

 

After marrying Lyle F. Barker they had three daughters, they settled in Phoenix Arizona. While there, Betty made many worthwhile contributions to the nursing field, helping to develop and initiate the paramedic and air-evac programs. After retiring in the late 90’s, she lived with her youngest daughter until 2009 when she moved to live with her oldest daughter in Clifton, Idaho. In 2015, Betty moved into the Heritage Home in Preston and soon became well known and well loved. She loved nursing and gardening and always enjoyed reading, painting and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

 

She is survived by her three daughters, Wendy Kendall, Suzanne Barker and Janet Stricko and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lyle, four older brothers, a younger sister, and a grandson.

 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 12, 2019 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Moyle Community Center in Clifton, Idaho. Interment will be with her husband in the Arizona Memorial National Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at: www.webbmortuary.com
