Barbara Larsen Hendricks

Barbara Larsen Hendricks slipped from this life to join her Eternal companion Douglas on March 8, 2014. Barbara was born November 4, 1920 in the little town of Franklin Idaho to Ambrious and Jessie Wilkinson Larsen. She was the first child and older sister to two brothers and one more sister. She spent her entire life in Cove and in the early years gathering with her friends to play "Kick the Can, Hide and Seek or Run Sheep Run". In winter they would sleigh ride over the white and crusted snow of the Cove Hill.
At the age of 10 her parents bought her a beautiful new piano. Barbara became an accomplished pianist and organist and shared her talents with many. As a young girl she was the Primary pianist and was the ward organist for literally decades. Barbara had an organ in her home most of her married life and fond memories for the family is when she would play the Christmas song, "Sleigh Ride".
On April 16, l941 she married Douglas Hendricks in the Logan Temple and from this marriage was born 5 daughters. They spend their entire life farming in Cove.
Barbara loved the beauty of nature and especially the mountains. As a young girl she would spend lots of time riding her pony Buck up the High Creek Canyon and to the lake. Doug and Barbara's home has been a showplace of beautiful flowers, roses and shrubs. It has been a haven for beautiful birds who would gather in the shady trees. Barbara was a skilled seamstress making many fluffy dresses for little girls. She was an excellent cook who was always trying new recipes and foods. Barbara was a meticulous homemaker who took a lot of pride in hanging out the whitest wash on her clothesline. She decorated her home so beautifully and especially during the Christmas season with her white flocked tree decorated in tiny pink lights.
Barbara had a strong testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ. She served all of her life in various church callings including Relief Society President, Primary President, Stake Primary President, Organist, Teacher and Temple worker. She has also been a great example of "charity" as she has served so many especially in their time of need. She had a secret connection to the fountain of youth as she always stayed young. In her later life she bought a new 4-wheeler so she could ride up the canyon, it sat alongside of her motorcycle and her snowmobile. She also had a faithful little companion in her dog "lady" who sensed her needs and was always at her side.
Barbara is survived by her five daughters, Marilyn [Carl Hoffman], Kaye [Joe Carlson], Gayle [Robert Profaizer], Jann [David Bodily], and Nansi [Kevin Blau]. Her siblings Boyd [Carol Larsen] Shirley [Jay Robinson] and Sherwin [Gloria Larsen] She has a posterity of 29 grandchildren, 83 great grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Douglas, her parents and 3 grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank the Williamsburg retirement home, where she has spent the last 10 months of her life, for their loving care and for all of her special friends she had. Also special thanks to Dr. Terry Finlayson and Dr. Richard Stevens , and the tremendous nursing staff at the Cache Valley Specialty Hospital for their kind compassionate care.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday March the 12th at the Cove Ward Chapel. The family will visit with friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and again Wednesday 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cove church. Burial will be held in the Richmond Cemetery.
