PRESTON, IDAHO AUDREY LONG
PRESTON- On a beautiful summer day, June 13, 2012, a little piece of sunshine burned out in our lives. While driving home to her sweetheart in Preston, God had a detour for our sweet, angel wife and mother, Audrey Jane Simmons Long. He took her home to His loving arms following a tragic car accident, leaving behind a void in our hearts that will never be filled until we can join with her again.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edward Searle Simmons and True Vilate Pack. She was a beautiful and loving wife to Ronald John Long. They would have been married 56 years on August 17th, they shared an eternal love for each other that was a joy to behold. Together they raised seven children: Karen (Garth) Ball of Farmington, Utah; Jennie (David) Hobbs of Whitney, Idaho; Cindy Alani of Murray, Utah; Heather (Dave) James of Salt Lake City, Utah; Lynette (Westley) Burrell of Tremonton, Utah; David (Jenny) Long of Soda Springs, Idaho; and Jess (Megan) Long of Las Vegas, Nevada. They enjoyed the adoration of 31 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Audrey was truly on of Heavenly Father's most elect daughters. Her life was a shining example of constant service to others. She had a complete unconditional love for everyone, but most especially her family whom she loved so much. Her faith and love for Jesus Christ never wavered in all of her 77 short years and she took every opportunity to share her great testimony with her family. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in most every auxiliary possible giving herself completely to each calling. Ron and Audrey served together as service missionaries in Logan from 2008-2009, enjoying every minute they spent together laughing and loving the Lord's great work. She never wasted a single minute of her waking hours, she was busy from sun up to sun down going about her day of making sure all the loved ones in her life where cared for and happy. She could work circles around people half her age, which left everyone in complete awe of her boundless energy and youthful vitality.
She had seven brothers and sisters, all of whom have passed away except for her youngest brother, Boyd Martin (Linda) Simmons of West Jordan, Utah. She is survived by her faithful and loving husband, Ron, all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Searle Simmons, True Hone, Lila Andrew, Wanda Wilkinson, and an infant brother. She was also preceded in death by a special grandson, Jed Hobbs.
