Arthur Abel Stevenson, 92, passed away on July 18, 2013, in Weston, Idaho. He was born Aug. 24, 1920, in Sublett, Idaho, the son of Abel Weaver and Clara Bryant Dalley Stevenson. He married Margaret Packer on April 3, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served his country in the US Army during World War II. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and being the "assistant candy maker". He and his wife made wonderful chocolates which so many people enjoyed. He was a dry farmer and dairy farmer and also the custodian of the Linrose and Weston Wards for years. He also enjoyed being a school bus driver for West Side for twenty years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served as Sunday School Superintendant and as the Linrose Ward Clerk. He and his wife served as officiators in the Logan Temple for many years. He was a very faithful home teacher. He was an extremely honest man and had the patience of Job. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, Glen A. (Vicki) Stevenson of Weston; Paul W. (Jeriann) Stevenson of Tremonton, Utah; Laura (Mike) McKenzie of Fairview, Idaho; Vera (Bruce) Campbell of Weston; Velma (Michael) Jones of Keizer, Oregon; by 23 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and by a brother, Zane (Sharon) Stevenson of Ogden, Utah. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; by a daughter, Sharlet McCarthey; by a grandson, Jordan Campbell and by two great-grandsons, Noah Bodily and Landon Derrick.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Weston Second Ward Chapel with Bishop Scott White conducting. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 8th East, Preston, Idaho and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
