St Charles - Arlo Marvin Rasmussen age 79 former Logan, Utah resident, passed away on December 7th 2011 at the Heritage House in Preston Idaho. He was born on August 24th 1932 to Marvin Ambert Rasmussen and Jennie Rich Allred Rasmussen.

His early years were spent on his grandparents farm in St. Charles Idaho. He liked to work with the animals and it stayed with him all his life. He attended school in St. Charles Idaho until the family moved to Kemmerer, Wyoming where he graduated in 1950. He then went to Utah State University and graduated with high honors in 1954.

He was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Quartermaster Corps. He served in Fort Myer, Virginia until his release in 1956. He returned home to St. Charles to the family farm. He meet the love of his life Ardyth Weber in 1960. They were married in the Logan Temple on September 23rd 1960. They were blessed with seven children. He started teaching school in 1961 in St.Charles and then moved over to teach in Montpelier, Idaho until 1994 when he retired after teaching for 33 years. In 1997 he moved to Logan Utah with his wife and bought a house where they lived for a number of years. Ardyth passed away on September 7th 2002.

He held many positions in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was called to serve in the St. Charles Ward bishopric as the second counselor and then as bishop. He served in the Paris Stake High Council as an executive secretary, and then as the 1st counselor for 18 A½ years. He also served as a High Priest Assistant Group Leader, Instructor of the High Priest, a Regional Welfare Agent over five stakes, a ward historian, a ward missionary, Sunday school teacher, and a home teacher. He had a strong testimony as to the truthfulness of the gospel, and always desired to do his best in all of his callings.

He loved to play softball with the ward and listen to the music of the big band era. He enjoyed supporting his grandkids especially in ball games and rarely missed a game.

He is survived by his children Jennie (Larry) Hale, of Taylorsville, UT; Arlo Charles (DeAnn) Rasmussen, of Preston, ID; Sheylee (Charles) Frandsen, of Millville, UT; Juliann (Willis) Seyfried, of Soda Springs, ID; Myrnalyn (Cody) Lutz, of Garden City, UT; Gregg (Julie) Rasmussen, of Willard, UT; and Francene (Camron) Jensen, of Millville, UT; 20 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren; and a brother Dean (Charlotte) Rasmussen, of Sunnyside, WA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ardyth.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12. 2011 at 12:00 noon in the St Charles LDS Chapel. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston and Monday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church in St Charles.
