Arden R. Rasmussen

Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather Arden R Rasmussen, age 89, passed away on October 6, 2013 in Preston ID. He was born May 26, 1924 in Mink Creek, ID the son of Orlando and Sarah Rasmussen. He was the 6th child of 15. He served in the US Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII and upon return, served a mission for the LDS church in Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia. He married Sheila Stephenson of Boise, ID on May 12, 1953 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Boise for 25 years where he worked as a carpenter and remodeling contractor. They moved back to Mink Creek in 1978 where he continued in construction until he and Sheila left on an LDS mission to Corpus Christi, Texas. He was a councilor in three Bishoprics, served two missions and was a stake missionary in Boise for 17 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila, and their four children: LaVonne (Patrick) Floyd of Salt Lake City, UT; Trudy Post of Lehi, UT; Kelly (Teresa) Rasmussen of Preston, ID; and Daren (Joelle) Rasmussen of Murray, UT. At the time of his passing he was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings: Carma Combs, Wanda Forsgren, Lois Larsen, Lila Rae Bennett, Kendall Rasmussen and Garland Rasmussen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orlando and Sarah, a son-in-law Richens Post, as well as siblings: Darward, Orlando Jr., DeMar, Lima Jepsen, Verla Olson, Darma, Lizzie Conlin and Calvin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mink Creek Ward Chapel. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 South 8th East, Preston, Idaho and Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.
