Anna Christensen Swann

Anna Elvera Christensen Swann, 103, died of natural causes December 12, 2009, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. Anna was born October 9, 1906 in Central, Idaho as the 10th of 11 children born to Ferdinand and Elsie Christensen, who both emigrated from Denmark to the United States.
Anna married Ephriam Alexander Swann on December 1, 1926 in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. Anna and Alex lived in Central, Idaho until after the birth of their third child, when they moved to Banida, Franklin County, Idaho, where they lived until Alex's passing in September 1994. Anna then moved in with Glenda and Paul Swainston in Preston, Idaho, her daughter and son-in-law, until failing health required her move into the Heritage Home.
Anna and Alex had seven children, and she is survived by five of them, Verna (Verle ) Hale, Kent, Washington, Elsie (Glen) Briscoe, Rigby, Idaho, Opal (Chuck, deceased) Watkins, Preston Idaho, Glenda (Paul) Swainston, Preston, Idaho, and Reed (Debby) Swann, Mink Creek, Idaho. Anna was preceded in death by a son, Norman, who died at age 3, and by a daughter, Janet (Leon) Skinner, Banida, Idaho, who passed away on June 11, 2004 . She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
The two most important things in Anna's life were her family and her church. It didn't seem to matter how much her family grew, Anna did her best to keep track of every grandchild and the activities of their lives. She also served faithfully in the numerous church callings she had. She loved working in the Relief Society and with the children in Primary. There was nothing so precious to Anna as a small child. Even when it became difficult for her to leave home, she continued to serve in the Extraction Program for many years. Among her many talents were her beautiful handwork, knitting, and crocheting. The only thing that really bothered Anna in her later years was that she was apart from Alex, a situation that has now been remedied.
Funeral services for Anna will be held Friday, December 18th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS 7th Ward Chapel at 155 North 2nd West in Preston. The family will receive friends at a viewing Thursday night at the Webb Funeral Home at 109 East Oneida in Preston from 6:00 pm to 8 pm, and Friday morning at the 7th Ward Chapel from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
