PRESTON- Alice Mitton Nuffer, 98, passed away on Feb. 15, 2010, at the Franklin County Transitional Care Center in Preston. She was born March 16, 1911, in Paradise, Utah, the daughter of John and Ruth Rallison Mitton. She was the second child of five children: three brothers, Lawrance, Herbert and Douglas Mitton (all deceased) and one sister, Helen Nielsen of Bountiful, Utah.
She married Karl L. Nuffer on Jan. 31, 1931, in Preston, Idaho. He passed away on May 14, 1985. They had five children: Jack Nuffer (deceased), Richard (Charlene) Nuffer of Preston; June (Darrell) Wilkinson of Ogden, Utah; Karol (Orvid) Balls of Dayton, Idaho; and Gary (Dorothy) Nuffer of Roy, Utah. She has 17 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Alice lived at home on 4th South for 70 years. She enjoyed gardening and was always working in her yard caring for her beautifully manicured trees, riding her lawn mower or pruning her pink rose bushes. Two years ago, she moved into the Heritage Home.
She was an avid baker and was famous for her oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. She loved her children and grandchildren and always made sure they had plenty to eat. She started working at JC Penney's and then worked at Milo's Grocery Store for 30 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she enjoyed attending the temple and fulfilling her church callings. She was a hard worker and very self-sufficient and independent.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the Franklin County Transitional Care Center for their sweet acts of kindness they gave to our mother.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at noon at Webb Funeral Home's new facility, 1005 South 8th East, Preston, Idaho. Friends may call Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.webbmortuary.com
