Alice May Clements Field

Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Alice May Clements Field, 89, passed away on Feb. 4, 2014, surrounded by her family at the Logan Regional Hospital. She will be missed by her family and friends. She was born April 3, 1924, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Mary Anna Sterzer and Frank Wheeley Clements.

She grew up in Salt Lake City and Tooele, Utah. After graduation from Tooele High School, she began working at Purity Biscuit Co. where she met her future husband, Kenneth Loyd Field. They spent many hours riding on bikes to and from their dancing dates. Soon after Kenneth was drafted into the Navy, she followed him to Memphis, Tennessee where they were married on May 19, 1944. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on June 25, 1954.

They lived in many areas while in the service. After the war was over, they settled in Roy, Utah and then Lewiston, Utah. When the sugar factory closed, they moved to Kimberly, Idaho. Together they built a home there and were proud to say they pounded every nail with their hammers. After Ken passed away, she needed more help and moved back to Lewiston to retire.

Alice was very talented in quilting and handmade articles of any kind. She kept her home, yard and gardens as neat as a pin. She had her way of making things tidy. Alice served in many callings in the church and loved to serve others. She and her husband served a Family History Mission in Salt Lake City. Her time spent in the temple meant a lot to her.

She is survived by three daughters and three sons, Linda (Jay) Flygare of Lewiston; Vernon (Laura Jo) Field of Jerome, Idaho; Bonnie (Bob) Gregory of Lewiston; Boyd (Mona) Field of Boise, Idaho; Loyd (Janice) Field of Lewiston; Cindy (Dan) Wall of Las Vegas, Nevada; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren and by a brother, John J. Clements of Salem, Utah. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; by grandchildren, Stephanie Gregory, Alisha Field Hepworth, John Zachariah Hepworth, Mahailla Marie Hepworth and by three sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at noon in the Lewiston First Ward Chapel, 10 S. 1600 W., Lewiston, Utah. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the church in Lewiston and Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. also at the church. Interment will be in the Lewiston Cemetery.
