Preston - Addie Lou Forsberg Stevens, a wonderful Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend, fought cancer for over a year before Heavenly Father asked her to come home on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at the age of 74. Addie was a resident of Grace, Idaho and recently the last eight years of Preston, Idaho.
Addie was born on September 14, 1940 to Dave F. and Lucy Bowen Forsberg and lived in River Heights, Utah. She was their first child and when she was 12, they moved to Caldwell, Idaho. She graduated from Middleton High School and went to Ricks College for two years until her sweetheart of four years, Larry Stevens came home from his LDS mission and they were married on October 20, 1960.
She and Larry moved to Grace, Idaho on June 30, 1965 where he taught at the High School as the Vocational Agriculture teacher. He retired from there after they both made many life-long friends and they moved to Preston in 2009. they wanted to moved closer to family and made many more friends as they lived in Preston.
Addie loved the gospel and served in many capacities of the Church such as Primary and Relief Society Presidents, Ward and Stake Librarians, Family History Consultant, and many others. She loved genealogy and every aspect of it, and marveled at all of the people she and Larry found, and were led to by the Spirit to have their work done in the Temple. She served in the Logan Temple off and on from 1990 until November 2014. They also served three Spanish missions to Costa Rica, Spain Temple, and the Mission office in Fuengirola, Spain. She loves music and would teach piano to anyone willing to put in the time with her.
Larry and Addie celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on October 20, 2010 by going to the Idaho Falls Temple where they were sealed and then to a big celebration from their six daughters Diane Hardy, Annette Hansen, Carmen Clark, Karlene Cobbley, Beth Wheatley, and Tara Lemmon on the 23rd. This was a wonderful event with her family, that she loved so much along with many friends who were in attendance and she enjoyed it very much.
Addie was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer and when all of that was removed the very aggressive Carcinoma Cancer crept up in October 2013. She started Chemo Therapy with the calmness of FAITH to know that whatever happened was going to happen if and when the Lord willed it. She had faith in all of her doctors, nurses and hospital staff, where ever she was to help her live as long as God would want her to. Larry would like to thank all of these people for helping her feel like she was important and helped her live for a little longer with all of us.
She fought hard and finally with no life choices left to her, she and Larry made the decision to let her go to her home in Preston on November 28, 2014. She lived out the rest of her life having loved ones and friends around her, with the Spanish Branch and 8th ward Member to give her love and encouragement in the next life with her Father in Heaven. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Addie was preceded in death by many who loved her and so many more here on this earth that will join her when their time has come to "GO HOME" as well.
