Preston - Asa "Ace" Beckstead, 94, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. He was born on January 2, 1916 in Preston, Idaho to William Leon and Cora L. Maughan Beckstead. He married Elvina Burton on July 29, 1936 in the Logan Temple. She preceded him in death in 1985. He married Donna Benson Thompson in the Mesa Temple on March 22, 1986.

Ace loved working and building. He was skilled at fixing and repairing just as he was at building. He loved to vacation with his family and made sure to go on an annual vacation. He was a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings during his life. He and Elvina served a mission to the Tempe, Arizona mission and he was also a temple worker in the Mesa Temple.

He is survived by his wife Donna, of Mesa, AZ; his children Larry A. (Dorothy) Beckstead, of Preston, ID; Willis Leon (Julie) Beckstead, of Preston, ID; and Don B. (JoAnn) Beckstead, of Preston, ID; and a foster daughter Radele Baxter; 17 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Elvina, four siblings, and a granddaughter-in-law Holly Schvaneveldt Beckstead.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Webb Funeral Home's new location, 1005 South 800 East, in Preston with Bishop Mark Beckstead conducting. A viewing will be held Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Saturday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
